The Music Speaks Team

Music Speaks team members serve in a variety of ways: the music therapists work in the field by traveling to our clients, providing therapy, and completing documentation to show the progress of each patient, while members of the Systems Team focus on behind-the-scenes work, such as administrative duties, on-going operations, and further development.

As a whole team, Music Speaks works towards the goal of offering quality music therapy to all clients who would benefit from this health service.

The Music Therapists

All of the music therapists on the Music Speaks team have the following qualifications:

  • A music therapy degree from an approved college or university program

  • A completed 1,200 hours of music therapy clinical training through courses, practicums, and internships

  • National certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT), which is necessary for professional practice

  • An on-going education of 100 credits within every five year span in order to retain national certification

Our music therapists have a diverse educational background, in both the programs they studied under and the internships they completed. After becoming board-certified, some of our music therapists chose to do additional certifications, such as Neurologic Music Therapist Fellowships, Developmental Therapy, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Music Therapy.

Music Speaks therapists work with a wide variety of populations, including, but not limited to: early intervention, schools, behavioral health, bereavement and grief counseling, clients of all ages with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, neurological disorders and rehabilitation, older adult and memory care, and hospice for all ages.
