Music Speaks Administration
Administration is located in numerous locations and serves all of Music Speaks by supporting both the music therapists and the clients of the company.
Stephanie Johnson, MT-BC, NMT-Fellow
Stephanie is the founder, owner, and CEO of Music Speaks, LLC. She graduated from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa with a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy, and later trained as a Neurologic Music Therapist Fellow. Stephanie serves as the chair of the Iowa Music Therapy Task Force, passing legislation in 2021 to recognize music therapy as a profession in the state. She is current on the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Standards of Clinical Practice Committee.
In 2015, she was honored with a Changemaker Award from the AMTA. In 2020, she received both the Ad Astra Music Therapy Advocacy Award and the Award of Merit from AMTA.
Kelsey Nelson, MM, MT-BC, NICU MT
Kelsey is the Development Director at Music Speaks. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology & Music from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, later graduating from the University of Kentucky with a Master’s of Music in Music Therapy. She is also certified as a NICU Music Therapist. Kelsey previously taught undergraduate music therapy courses and guest lectures at universities, in addition to co-writing the Pediatric Medicine chapter in Music Therapy: An Introduction to the Profession.
Tyanne Mischnick, MME, MT-BC
Tyanne is the Operations Director at Music Speaks. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music with Psychology Minor from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska, and later received her Master of Music Education in Music Therapy from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. Tyanne also serves as the chair of the Nebraska Music Therapy Task Force.
Leanne Shradel, MT-BC
Leanne is the Training Director and Clinical Manager at Music Speaks. Leanne earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Before Music Speaks, she worked in music therapy contracting, serving a variety of populations over a wide geographical area in Iowa.
Joni Bennett
Joni is the Administrative Assistant at Music Speaks. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts in Home Economics Education and Consumer Science. She has experience in sales and accounting, accounts receivable and payable, management, and small business ownership.
